Juniper Village at Lebanon kicks off the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Juniper Village at Lebanon began the trend for Juniper Communities as residents dumped pitchers of ice water on employees' heads as they participated in the ALS ice bucket challenge on Thursday, August 21, 2014, as you can see in these photos. They then nominated Juniper Village at Meadville.

Best Friends Puzzle Necklaces

Juniper Village Residents and Associates gather together at least once a month to make a craft with their "Best Friend". This month we made Best Friend puzzle necklaces. The hardest part of the whole craft was
finding 2 puzzles pieces that fit together. Once the pieces were identified they were made into matching necklaces. So the next time you stop by Juniper Village look for an Associate and a Resident wearing
matching puzzle pieces.

Doing Our Part, One Quarter at a Time

The Residents of Juniper Village held a Quarter Raffle to raise money for their American Heart Association Heart Walk team. A variety of items were donated and participants purchased a 25 cent ticket which was placed in the corresponding cup of the item they wished to win. The item that was most desired was the stuffed giraffe. Juniper Village Residents were able to raise over $60 for their Heart Walk team.

Join us on August 30th for our community yard sale. The proceeds from the yard sale will also go towards our American Heart Walk Team.

Summer Smiles

The Juniper Garden Club spent a sunny July afternoon enjoying the beauty of their garden. The Black Eyed Susans, Lilacs, Dill, Basil and tomatoes were in full bloom. Everyone was wearing a big smile with a glass of lemonade in one hand and a fresh cut flower in the other.

Stop by our Courtyard to walk the gardens or pull up a chair and enjoy the sunshine.

Picnic in the Park

Enjoying a scrumptious picnic lunch in historic Coleman's Park is the best way to spend a beautiful summer day in July. After eating their delicious sandwiches prepared by Juniper Village's H'Art and Soul of Dining staff, our residents walked around the park. Our most daring residents even took to the swings, reminiscing about their childhood days.

Breathe in Life: August Events

Our Alive in All Seasons’ theme for August is The Environment. Our communities will focus their efforts on maintaining healthy environments through environmentally conscious activities. Our “Green Canopy” program emphasizes designing and operating buildings that meet new standards of environmental sustainability. We are proud to be the first long-term care company with a building in the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.

According to research by Go Green, Americans throw away 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour; 25 billion Styrofoam cups and 40 billion soft drink bottles and cans each year. Eighty-four percent of the average American’s household trash can be recycled. If we recycled just 1/10 of our newspapers 25 million trees could be saved. Are we all doing our part?

Join us this month as we learn more about the environment, expand our wide-scale recycling program, learn more about environmental sustainability programs and work with our community Green Teams to promote our “Green Canopy” initiative. We encourage you to accompany us on this environmental journey so that we can all continue to Breathe in Life!

Our fabulous activity offerings this month include our Wringer Center Traveling Antique Show presenting a one of a kind humorous and entertaining program featuring wash-day related items held in The Club on August 6^th at 3:00 pm; our Art of Making Paper activity in the Garden Room where we will re-purpose and recycle items to create beautiful pieces of paper which can be used in a variety of ways on August 15^th at 1:30 pm; our Ice Cream Social and Live Barbershop Quartet sponsored by Grane Hospice featuring sweet treats in the Village followed by a performance of the “33 1/3 Barbershop Quartet” in the Village Lobby on August 23^rd at 2:30 pm; our Community Yard Sale where you can walk our beautiful campus while you look for bargains on August 30^th from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm (to reserve space for a table please contact Tanya at 717-272-8782). Take a look at our calendar and join us for any and all activities that will help you make the most of these last few weeks of summer.

Stand in Integrity: July Events

July is the month in which we celebrate our nation’s independence with fireworks, cook outs and by cherishing our own personal freedoms. Nelson Mandela reminds us “to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” In that spirit join us as we honor those who “Stand in Integrity.”

Dr. Barbara Killinger, PhD, offers this definition of integrity: “Integrity is a personal choice, an uncompromising and predictably consistent commitment to honor moral, ethical, spiritual and artistic values and principles.” To “Stand in Integrity” does not mean that you are flawless or perfect, it means that you admit your shortcomings; you have influence, not because people like you, but because people trust you, believe you, and follow you.

We will also celebrate this month’s Alive in All Seasons theme of Volunteerism by volunteering our time to others, honoring those who volunteer with us, including our Resident Ambassadors; and learning more about volunteer opportunities in the greater community.

Our fabulous activity offerings this month include our Volunteer and Family Celebration Cookout where we invite all of you who have volunteered with us to enjoy a tasty meal with a hearty side of gratitude on July 1^st at 5:00 pm; our Patriotic Songfest featuring Sandy Heisey saluting America’s great and honorable history on July 4^th at 3:00 pm; our Benefits of Volunteerism educational session lead by Jenee Fetterhoff from Grane Hospice who will share how anyone can be a volunteer regardless of limitations on July 16^th at 3:00 pm; our Healthcare Worker and First Responder Appreciation After Hours un-WINE event in the Club for nurses, firemen, EMTs, paramedics, care aides, social workers, and physicians ro enjoy a glass of wine or a frosty mug of beer on July 24^th at 4:30 pm; or our Live Music-Golden Oldies presentation hopping to the sounds of those great toe tapping songs with Marino Gaspari on July 29^th at 3:00 pm.
